2020 Recruitment are working with our Manchester based engineering client who are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to their growing team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a well-established business working on a variety of innovative engineering projects within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Please note this is not a graduate or entry-level role. Candidates must have previous experience delivering mechanical design work within an engineering or manufacturing environment as well as the right to work in the UK.
The Role
The successful candidate will support the design and development of engineered products and systems, ensuring designs are compliant, practical, and fit for purpose from concept through to manufacture.
You will work closely with internal departments including Production, Projects and Procurement to ensure customer and operational requirements are achieved.
Hours:
• Monday to Thursday – 7:30am to 4:00pm
• Friday – 7:30am to 12:30pm
Hybrid Working:
• 3 days office based
• 2 days working from home (at hiring manager discretion)
Holiday Entitlement:
• 26 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays
Key Responsibilities
As the Mechanical Design Engineer your duties will include:
- Design and develop engineered products and equipment solutions
- Support product improvements to reduce costs and improve manufacturing efficiency
- Carry out engineering analysis including FEA and hand calculations
- Produce and review mechanical engineering drawings and documentation
- Participate in internal design reviews and support project delivery
- Ensure compliance with company standards and relevant industry regulations
- Investigate and resolve engineering and technical queries
- Maintain accurate engineering and project documentation
- Follow internal engineering change and approval procedures
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and commercially viable
Requirements
To be considered for the Mechanical Design Engineer you will need the following:
- HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent essential
- Further engineering qualifications would be advantageous
- Previous experience within a mechanical design engineering role
- Strong 3D CAD experience
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering calculations and principles
- Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly
- Knowledge of engineering materials and applications
- Understanding of regulations including PED, ATEX, Machinery Safety Directive and REACH
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
- Right to work in the UK and live within a commutable distance of Manchester
