2020 Recruitment are working with a leading manufacturing business in Manchester who are looking to add an experienced Skilled Fitter to their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer to join a well-established operation, working on the maintenance, refurbishment and assembly of mould tooling within a busy production environment. The role offers long-term prospects, ongoing development and the chance to work with a highly skilled team.
The Role
As a Skilled Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and assembly of mould tooling and associated equipment to support production operations. You will also assist with machine maintenance, tooling changes and continuous improvement activities across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly and fitting of new mould tooling and associated equipment
- Maintenance, repair and refurbishment of mould tooling
- Operating manual machine tools including milling, turning and radial arm drilling machines
- Carrying out tooling changeovers and mould setting activities
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Supporting production through equipment maintenance and first-off inspections
- Identifying opportunities for tooling and process improvements
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping
- Supporting business requirements as required
What We're Looking For
- Time-served apprenticeship within an engineering environment
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- Strong general fitting and tooling refurbishment experience
- Experience operating manual machine tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment
- Computer literacy and experience working within a production setting
Working Hours
36 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern:
Week 1
Monday to Thursday: 06:00 – 14:00
Friday: 06:00 – 12:00
Week 2
Monday to Thursday: 14:00 – 22:00
Friday: 12:00 – 18:00
