Is Your Company Attracting The Right Talent?

Employees are looking for more than just a job.

The majority want to work for a company who can offer them long term career objectives.

Jim Rohn clearly sets out the clarity between personal development and business success and we need to be mindful of this when we employ.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to attract the right candidates that meet a company’s criteria.

Why Do Job Advertisements Need To Be Specific

When posting your Job Advertisement be as specific as possible.

Job Ad Criteria

You are looking for someone to represent your business in the best way possible.

You are looking for the ideal candidate who is the right fit for your business. You want them to help your business grow and someone who is in it for the long term.

From Receiving CV’s to the Interview Process

When you receive CV’s and you’re not sure who is the right fit for you and your company, you need to determine what you are looking for.

It may be that a candidate who doesn’t have a history of jumping from job to job within short spaces of time (unless they are a contractor of course).

The time they have been with previous employers will be a good indication of how long they will be with you.

Meet Your Prospective Employee More Than Once

Meeting your prospective employee more than once is a good idea to get to know them better, to see what their career aspirations are, what they can bring to your business and your existing team.

Do they have the same values and ethics as yourself and your team?

Are they a right fit for you?

Are you a right fit for them?

Are they just all about the money?

If you’re looking to employ a sales person this may be a benefit, however, having someone who is totally focussed on money may not be ideal for your business especially if money is the motivator and not the position itself.

Will they fit into your company culture? This is extremely important. They may have the correct skills but not the correct attitude!

Sometimes we may need to look past the skills and look at the potential.

Companies are missing out on great people due to candidates not being evaluated for their high potential and the motivation to succeed.

These candidates are the ones that will go the extra mile. They just need to be given the opportunity to do so which many companies may see as a risk, however, it may be a risk worth investing in.
